Mpox death toll has risen to 3, confirms Health Department

JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Health has confirmed that the death toll in the Mpox outbreak has risen to three.
A 40-year-old male who presented with Mpox-like symptoms including a rash all over his body passed away at his home Sunday.

Three more positive cases have been recorded bringing the total number of cases to 16.
"Eight of these cases were confirmed in KwaZulu-Natal, seven were confirmed in Gauteng and only one was confirmed in the Western Cape province. All cases were male aged between 23 and 43 years old," said spokesperson Foster Mohale.
Some of the common symptoms of Mpox include a rash which may last for two to four weeks, headache, fever, muscle aches and back pain.
