Corruption-accused Kodwa says ANC most suitable to answer questions on his deployment

CAPE TOWN - Responding to criticism over his return to Parliament, former minister Zizi Kodwa says the African National Congress (ANC) is best suited to answer any questions over his deployment. 
 
Kodwa finally took his oath on Tuesday after missing the first sitting of Parliament just over a week ago.

This has ended speculation about his future and whether he would take up his seat amid corruption charges.

Kodwa was the first name to be called out to be newly sworn in as a member of Parliament (MP) by acting judge President Patricia Goliath.

But before taking the oath, Kodwa defended his deployment despite being forced to resign from his other positions due to corruption charges as required by the ANC’s step-aside resolution.

“Well, I’m here because I’m on the list of the ANC. The list has been certified. I was supposed to be here last week but because of other matters. But as for issues you are raising the organisation can explain.”

The swearing-in ceremony also saw some new and old familiar faces returning like former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MP Andile Mngxitama as well as former Finance Minister Des van Rooyen both representing the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.
