CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town has called on residents to store enough water as it will be undertaking essential maintenance of the water supply infrastructure in the Cape Flats.
The metro said that several areas in the city will be without water supply for over three days starting from Monday midnight until Wednesday.
According to the municipality, it wants to ensure that the city's pipe infrastructure remains resilient for many more years to come.
Areas like Wynberg, Wetton, Ottery, Muizenberg and Diep River are some of the areas that will be affected in the southern suburbs.
City of Cape Town MMC for Water and Sanitation Zahid Badroodien said that the three-day water maintenance project is an important investment.
"In this instance, we will be replacing five large valves that are key in our Cape Flats water network. We are also encouraging our residents to prepare well in advance. One of the ways they can do this is to store enough clean water."
