Two people caught with ammunition and fake gun in Philippi East

CAPE TOWN - Two suspects are behind bars after being nabbed with more than 150 rounds of ammunition and an imitation firearm in Philippi East.

They are aged 22 and 52.

Metro police officers arrested the suspects after receiving a tip-off while on patrol in the area on Thursday morning.

Metro police's Ruth Solomons: "They headed to the premises and requested permission to conduct a search, recovering three sealed boxes of 7.65mm rounds; a further 69 rounds in a jar, and 13 rounds for a 3.57mm magnum revolver."
