The couple’s trial kicked off at the start of June and was set down until Thursday.

But while it got off to a fast-paced start with the State flying through half a dozen witnesses in the first week, the matter’s since stalled multiple times.

This was as a result of a series of challenges the defence has raised to the State’s evidence, all of which have proved unsuccessful so far.
.
With the State still yet to wrap up its case, new dates will now have to be arranged for the leading of evidence to continue.

In the meantime, the investigating officer is expected to take the stand on Friday.
