JOHANNESBURG - As outgoing Police Minister Bheki Cele marking his last few days as a public representative, some political parties are glad his time in office has come to an end.
Cele is among several African National Congress (ANC) members who didn't return to Parliament following the recent national and provincial elections.
Political parties in the Government of National Unity are currently engaged in power-sharing talks ahead of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s cabinet announcement.
ActionSA chief whip, Lerato Ngobeni said she hopes that there are skilled candidates to occupy the police ministry.
“What we are glad about is the fact that it seems Bheki Cele will not be returning as a minister in that portfolio, that is definitely something that is pleasing to us. As to who the president appoints to that post, we are looking forward to that and we are hoping it’s going to work because that is one of the most important portfolios.”
