DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal police seized a consignment of cocaine worth R8 million in Pietermaritzburg.
The Hawks received a tip-off about a truck carrying a chemical crop sprayer tractor from the Durban Harbour headed for Free State.
Following a search, they found 20 bricks of cocaine hidden inside the sprayer’s bin.
"Members of the Pietermaritzburg Serious Organised Crime seized about 20 bricks of cocaine," said KwaZulu-Natal Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo.
"After they received information about that truck that was carrying the drugs, they intercepted it, found it stationary, and conducted a search, where they found those drugs."
Mhlongo said no arrests have been made.
"A detailed statement was obtained from the driver and no arrest has been made at this stage. Our investigation continues."
