JOHANNESBURG - With speculation mounting on the imminent Cabinet appointments, the Democratic Alliance (DA) says it has applied itself to where it can make an impact on the governance and the economic front.

Following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s inauguration on Wednesday, he now has the task of appointing members of his executive.

This will have to be in consultation with the Government of National Unity, comprised of parties including the Democratic Alliance (DA), the Good Party and the Patriotic Alliance (PA).

The DA’s former leader and chief negotiator, Tony Leon, said the president would be bound both by the Constitution and their agreement.

"So, I guess when the president meets again with John Steenhuisen, this will be up for consideration, perhaps resolution, because you don’t want to leave a country without a government for too long."
