JOHANNESBURG - Police are investigating a case of intimidation after 15 people stormed an Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) warehouse, demanding to be given access to ballot boxes.

Police said the incident took place on Tuesday night at the IEC warehouse located in Booysens, Johannesburg.

National police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, said nothing was taken from the warehouse, adding that police were investigating.

"They demanded entry into the warehouse [and] demanded access to the ballot papers, saying they wanted to ensure all ballot papers had been counted.

"So, as the police, we have registered a case of intimidation. We are studying all evidence and footage at our disposal to apprehend those behind the incident."
