CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town's water and sanitation teams are set to continue with mass water supply repairs across the metro on Wednesday, with water shortages expected in some areas.

City officials have urged residents to stock up on water as the planned water supply maintenance continues until Sunday.

City Mayco member for water and sanitation Zahid Badroodien said that the maintenance, which would disrupt water supply in both the northern and southern suburbs, is going ahead as planned.

"So far, the work is going ahead as scheduled without any issues. Everything is moving ahead steadily as planned. We also do have water tankers in our communities stationed at various locations."

Areas affected include Zevenwacht, Protea Hoogte, Sonkring and Brackenfell South in the northern suburbs and Constantia, Wynberg, Westlake, Tokai and Plumstead in the southern suburbs.
