JOHANNESBURG - Some reprieve may be on the cards for motorists next month as unaudited data from the Central Energy Fund predicts a drop in fuel prices.
Both grades of petrol could be cheaper by more than one rand while diesel is expected to decrease by about 50 cents.
While these estimates could still change, the Automobile Association said households could also be in for a treat with lower prices for illuminating paraffin.
Despite the positive outlook, the association’s spokesperson Eleanor Mavimbela said the prices of fuel are not expected to drop to lows seen at the beginning of the year.
“At this stage of the month, the numbers are more reflective of the way the fuel prices are likely to move when they are adjusted for July. Currently, the trajectory indicates that all fuels will be cheaper in July.”
