CAPE TOWN - New National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza says she's still seeking guidance on how to respond to the Economic Freedom Fighters' (EFF) letter calling for the reinstatement of impeachment proceedings against President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The red berets made the call shortly before the re-election of Ramaphosa as president under a Government of National Unity (GNU) during Parliament's first sitting last Friday.
They want an impeachment committee to probe the President over the theft of dollars from his Phala Phala farm.
However, the establishment of such a committee was rejected by the 6th administration in December 2022.
Didiza said the EFF's letter would receive all the attention it deserves: "Well, any letter that comes from an individual member or party, or even the public because they do write to the speaker, it's important to respond to those concerns because when they write the letters, they've actually considered what they want to communicate with you, and it is fair to respond."
