KZN coalition must focus on unity, serving community, says new Premier Thami Ntuli

DURBAN - Newly-appointed KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Premier Thami Ntuli has announced the province’s executive council members for the seventh administration.  

The MECs for the administration consist of four members from the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), two from the Democratic Alliance (DA), three from the African National Congress (ANC) and one from the National Freedom Party (NFP). 

The ANC’s Sipho Hlomuka will be going to education, while the DA’s Francious Rodgers will be taking the finance department and Nomagugu Simelane will remain in health.

Ntuli made the announcement shortly after officially taking oath as premier on Tuesday.

“The Members of my Executive will be sworn today [Tuesday]. I expect them to hit the ground running to start with the mammoth task that lies ahead, of rebuilding the province of KwaZulu-Natal.” 

Ntuli added while they hold different views politically, this coalition must focus on the unity of and serving communities. 

“To the appointed Members of the Executive, I appreciate that we come from different political homes, and we campaigned with different manifestos. However, now is the time to put the people of KwaZulu-Natal first.”
