CAPE TOWN - THE National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says the three men arrested for allegedly kidnapping another man in Woodstock, Cape Town, have a pending matter of similar nature against them in Gauteng.
Mlungisi Mbuthu, Bongani Zulu and Zwelakhe Ngwenya appeared briefly before the Cape Town Magistrates Court On Tuesday for kidnapping and extortion.
The Hawks nabbed the trio last week after they were tracked down to a house in Woodstock.
When officers entered the house, they found the hostage tied up in the main bedroom and was taken to hospital for medical examination.
One of the suspects emerged from the holding cells with a cast on his left leg.
The state says he was injured after he tried to scale a wall in an attempt to escape arrest.
All three suspects are from the Gauteng province and the State believes that they may be involved in several kidnappings in other provinces.
Their matter has been postponed for bail information.
The NPA says more charges could be added on top of the kidnapping and extortion charges they're currently facing.
