WC police says it's following up on all leads in Nick Frischke disappearance

CAPE TOWN - Western Cape police said they are following up on all leads to make a breakthrough in the disappearance of German tourist, Nick Frischke, more than a year after he disappeared without a trace.

Frischke went missing during his hike on the Hangberg trail in Hout Bay on Valentine’s Day in 2023.

Police have since arrested five suspects in connection with Frischke's disappearance.

Despite reports that there are new developments to crack the case on Frischke, police have distanced themselves from the reports.

So far, five suspects - Igshaan Fisher, Jason Abrahams, Vanroy Petersen, Carlo, and Melvin Guenantin - are facing charges of robbery.

The group previously confessed to robbing the German tourist of his belongings, including a cellphone, backpack, and other items.

They, however, denied killing him or having anything to do with his disappearance.

The State, however, made submissions late in 2023 to add murder charges.

Meanwhile, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said the matter would go to trial in August.
