It's been 100 days since Dan Marokane took charge as CEO of Eskom.
Marokane's tenure coincides with the most stable period for the embattled SOE, in terms of its energy production.
According to the power utility, loadshedding continues to remain suspended due to the continued improvement in the reliability and stability of the generation coal fleet.
South Africans have not experienced any power cuts for more than 80 days.
The last time South Africa experienced such an extended suspension of loadshedding was the period between 23 July 2021 and 06 October 2021.
Speaking to Motheo Khoaripe on The Money Show, energy expert Mthunzi Luthuli, who's the managing director of Luthuli Corporation says there's still a lot that Marokane and his team need to prove before it can be determined if he's the person to turn Eskom around.
"...we are not 100% sure whether we'll return to loadshedding or not."
- Mthunzi Luthuli, managing director - Luthuli Corporation
"It's impossible that they would've made such a difference in 100 days, so the improvement that we're seeing is as a result of work that started before he became the boss."
- Mthunzi Luthuli, managing director - Luthuli Corporation
