CAPE TOWN - The Public Servants Association is calling on government to intensify efforts to address youth unemployment, prioritise access to education, and reduce inequality.
This comes as the country marks Youth Day on Sunday to remember the young people who were killed in the Soweto uprising in 1976.

The uprising was a major event in the struggle against apartheid in South Africa by students who wanted to be taught in their mother tongue.
The Trade Union says government must remember this day and give back to the youth.
"This cannot be achieved if we don't provide our youth with the necessary tools and the opportunities to become great leaders in our new government of National Unity. In this respect, the necessary funding for students to access quality education is imperative, a platform to enable our youth to become part of the decision making process," said union Spokesperson Claude Naiker.
Naiker also urged the private sector to invest in youth development programmes.
