Amnesty International: Decisive action needed to address youth unemployment

JOHANNESBURG - Amnesty International has called on the incoming government to focus on solutions to help fight the high rate of unemployment.
According to the human rights advocacy group, young people continue to face many challenges, including lack of access to education while others still walk long distances to get to school.

It says Youth Day must serve as a reminder to those in power to safeguard the rights of the youth.
"Amnesty International South Africa calls on the incoming government, regardless of political affiliation, to take immediate and decisive action to address critical issues affecting youth people across the country," said the group's Rejoice Motaung.
"Upholding human rights is not just a legal obligation but a moral duty. We stand at a crucial juncture where the decisions made today will shape the future our youth and our country."
