CAPE TOWN - MPs have now been sworn in by Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, including those returning as members of different parties.
The ceremony has also seen the return of the likes of Malusi Gigaba.
The MPs were sworn in batches of ten from the different parties represented in the assembly.
Things have gone pretty smoothly since proceedings began at 10am.
But the proceedings did start with an empty section of the chamber that was reserved for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) but MPs arrived a little late.
While EFF leader Julius Malema was nowhere to be seen when his name was initially called out, he was eventually sworn in, along with other members of the EFF.
Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader Gayton McKenzie is now also officially a member of Parliament, after taking an oath joined by other PA members.
With the swearing-in process done, the assembly will start the process of electing the Speaker and ultimately, the president.
