JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN) says the party will support the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP)’s Thami Ntuli for premier.
Political parties are set to elect a premier at the provincial legislature's first sitting on Friday morning.
Despite the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party having the highest number of votes, KZN is likely to be governed by a coalition comprising the IFP, DA, African National Congress (ANC) and National Freedom Party (NFP).
DA provincial chairperson, Dean Macpherson: "We met yesterday [Thursday] as the DA, ANC, IFP and NFP and decided that as the IFP has the highest number of votes, they should lead that government. Obviously, this is subject to a signed agreement by the political parties."
