JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) has retained its dominance in the North West Legislature, occupying all top three positions.
The party's Lazarus Mokgosi has been elected as the Premier, Desbo Mohono has been appointed the Speaker, and the ANC's provincial chair, Tshepo Khoza, will be her deputy.
The ANC held onto its majority in the province after securing over 58% in this year's general elections.
Mokgosi and Mohono's election was uncontested.

Despite the province battling service delivery and sky-high unemployment, newly-elected Premier Mokgosi has spoken highly of his predecessor, Bushy Maape.
"Honorable Premier Maape, the lessons of your leadership shall be the guide that we navigate in the next five years- and we hope you will still be available to provide sanction and counsel when required," Mokgosi said.
Mokgosi has promised that the first item on his agenda will be the rollout of a labour activation programme to address joblessness in the province.
