JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal says it's waiting for the African National Congress (ANC) to confirm whether the party is willing to form a unity government in the province.
The ANC has the option to join forces with the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), National Freedom Party (NFP), and the DA, despite the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party receiving the most votes in KZN.

On Wednesday, the IFP announced that it was prepared to work with the ANC, DA, and NFP in KZN.
This means the ANC will have to decide whether to set aside its principle which indicates that the party with the biggest electoral support should be allowed to govern.
DA chairperson in KZN, Dean Macpherson, said that he hopes the ANC will support a unity government in the province.
"We hope that they will come to the table and the hard work over the last two weeks by the negotiators will pay off," said Macpherson.
Meanwhile, the MK party is said to have ignored coalition proposals from other parties, including the IFP which tried engaging them.
