Cop killed during crime prevention operation in Khayelitsha

CAPE TOWN - A police officer has been shot and killed in a crime prevention operation in Khayelitsha.
Officers were conducting a stop-and-search operation in Q-Block on Wednesday night when they came under fire.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the gunman.
The 30-year-old constable was based at the Khayelitsha Police Station.
The police's Novela Potelwa: "The deceased was part of a crime prevention operation that was conducted by Khayelitsha police in Q-Block at about 21.30. During that operation, the crime prevention unit members came under fire from an armed gunman. A murder and attempted murder investigation is currently being probed by Hawks detectives."
