JOHANNESBURG - Police have made a breakthrough in the murder investigations of four people, including two children in Soshanguve.
Last week, unknown assailants allegedly shot six people and burned a shack where two girls, aged four and seven, were sleeping.
The suspect was arrested on Sunday and faces four counts of murder and four counts of attempted murder.
According to police's preliminary investigations, armed suspects entered "Charging spot informal settlement" in Soshanguve and fired shots at the patrons.
Two of the victims, a male and female, died on the scene, with the rest taken to the nearest medical facility before the unknown gunmen proceeded to a shack in the vicinity, setting it alight and killing two young girls while they were asleep.
Police have linked the suspect, aged 35, to all of the murders and recovered a vehicle allegedly used during the commission of the crime.
He is expected to appear at the Pretoria North Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, with police set to carry out more arrests.
