CAPE TOWN - The Mpumalanga High Court has sentenced a police officer to three life terms for killing his wife, her sister, and her brother.
Police watchdog, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) said 38-year-old constable Sizwe Khoza shot and killed the trio during a family meeting in April last year.
The shooting happened after his wife's brother called him a small boy.
The court heard that Khoza went to his bedroom, opened a safe and took out his service firearm.
IPID Spokesperson Phaladi Shuping said the officer then went back to the room where the meeting was held and shot all three dead.
"The High Court of South Africa in Mpumalanga Division sentenced Khoza to life imprisonment for each of the murders he was found guilty on."
