CAPE TOWN - Following a bloody weekend in Cape Town, Western Cape Police Commissioner Thembisile Patekile said that more police had been deployed to Khayelitsha and Nyanga.
Three children and an adult were gunned down at a barbershop in Site C, Khayelitsha on Saturday.
Police said that moments before that, two men were shot and killed not far from the barbershop crime scene.
In Nyanga, four people were also shot dead at a house over the weekend.
Patekile said that more boots were on the ground to try and solve these murders.
"So we've redeployed many members into these areas and called others that were on rest days to come and supplement policing in Khayelitsha and Nyanga. But also not forgetting those other areas like Mfuleni and Delft, which are always our hotspot areas."
Patekile says they’ve cast a wide net in search of the gunmen. The motive for the shooting is still unknown. However, the provincial police commissioner says they can’t rule out extortion as a possible motive @NtuthuzeloNene
