JOHANNESBURG - Independent candidate, Anele Mda, has joined calls for the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) to conduct a thorough investigation into irregularities reported during the recent elections.
Mda contested the regional ballot in Gauteng and received over 3,700 votes.
The independent candidate is among political parties that believe the IEC failed to execute free and fair general polls.
Just like the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, Mda has urged the IEC to conduct a re-run of the elections.
"You think me calling for a re-run is because I’m not happy with my outcome per se? No, I am standing on a principle that says even if you have half a vote that isn’t accounted for, it must be demanded that the half a vote must be accounted for – because it starts with half a vote, it goes to 100,000 votes and then it goes to an entire rigging of elections."
