JOHANNESBURG - The trial of a Soshanguve man and his wife accused of orchestrating an elaborate murder plot to fake his death, continues in the High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday.
Sibusiso Mahlangu was reported to have died in a fire at his RDP home in Soshanguve in January 2022.
However, last April, police in Hammanskraal pulled over a suspected stolen vehicle and found him behind the wheel.
Together with his wife, Lerato Mahlangu, Sibusiso Mahlangu is now accused of killing another man, her ex, Sibusiso Sithebe, and passing the body off as his own.
This in order to cash in on his life insurance.
They’re facing charges of murder, defeating the ends of justice and fraud.
The trial got underway last week, with both the accused pleading not guilty.
A number of witnesses for the State have already testified and on Tuesday, a neighbour of the couple is expected to take the stand.
In the meantime, the accused are both in custody.
