CAPE TOWN - Empire Investment Cars a company owned by one of alleged underworld crime bosses, Nafiz Modack's co-accused has come under the spotlight on Monday in the Western Cape High Court.

Hawks captain Edward du Plessis presented evidence on Monday related to Modack, his brother - Yaseen Modack - and another accused, Adiel Mukudam.
Du Plessis told the court financial records show Mukudam bought Empire Investment Cars from Yaseen Modack in May 2019 but the company was only registered in his name a year later in May 2020.
Bank statements presented as evidence show monthly salary payments of R100,000 over five months to a bank account in Mukudam's name.
Du Plessis told the court what confused him was during the same period Mukadam had been making cash-send payments from the account to his cellphone number.
Du Plessis says the bank card linked to Mukadam's account was found on the driver's seat of the car in which Modack was arrested in April 2021.
The trial continues.
