CAPE TOWN - National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola said the number of officers set to run the decorated Comrades Marathon has almost doubled in 2024.
More than 350 police officers will take part in 2024’s instalment, up from 2023’s 200 officers.
The 2024 up-run edition of the ultimate human race will start in Durban and end in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday.
Masemola joined runners in Durban on Saturday for a pep talk ahead of the big race.
"Remember, everyone is running their own race. No one will assist your legs. Don’t walk in running shoes because you didn’t purchase walking shoes. Don’t surprise those shoes. Do what is expected. Those shoes have expectations, so deliver on what they are made for."
