Parties have one more day to remove election posters in Cape Town

Posters that were not removed within the deadline of 10 days after the election would be removed by the city as of Monday next week, and would cost political parties R134 per poster.

CAPE TOWN -The City of Cape Town says political parties have until midnight on Saturday to remove their election posters, or face being billed for each poster not removed.

The municipality said the string or plastic used to attach the posters to streetlight poles had to be removed as well.
 
The municipality said election posters had to be be removed within 10 days after the election to avoid being penalised.
 
It said posters that were not removed within the deadline of 10 days after the election would be removed by the city as of Monday next week, and would cost political parties R134 per poster.
 
The city said to recover any of the unauthorised posters removed by the municipality, parties would need to liaise during office hours with the city's environmental management department officials to collect the posters.
