JOHANNESBURG - The Border Management Authority (BMA) says it has intensified its operations at all 72 of the country's ports of entry in an attempt to regain control of the country's porous borders.
On Monday, the BMA intercepted 25 travelers who attempted to gain entry into the country without the proper documentation.
Since June, the authority has deployed an additional 400 junior border guards at various ports.

BMA spokesperson, Mmemme Mogotsi, said that the authority had adopted a zero-tolerance approach to criminal behaviour at all ports.
"The commissioner of the Border Management Authority, Dr Michael Masiapato, has once again issued a stern warning to travellers in contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa. Travellers are warned to avoid attempting to enter South Africa illegally as they will be caught by BMA officials," Mogotsi said.
