Sports Minister Zizi Kodwa due in court over corruption allegations

JOHANNESBURG - Sports and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa is expected to appear before the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
He is facing corruption charges amounting to R1.7 million.
This follows recommendations from Chief Justice Raymond Zondo in 2021 that Kodwa be removed from Cabinet and possibly charged for alleged State Capture corruption.

The claims stem from his time as the African National Congress (ANC) spokesperson and member of the national executive committee (NEC).
During the state capture commission, it was revealed that Kodwa's luxurious lifestyle was funded by businessman and former EOH boss, Jehan Mackay.
It's alleged that the minister influenced the awarding of contracts to EOH in return for favours.
