BLOEMFONTEIN - Disgraced celebrity doctor Nandipha Magudumana has reacted with emotion and held back tears as her accomplice and lover Thabo Bester had an outburst in court on Wednesday.
The duo and seven others were back in the Bloemfontein High Court for their pre-trial hearing.
But that has been stalled for a second time after Bester’s third set of lawyers were withdrawn from the case.
Bester, who is a convicted killer and rapist, addressed the court emotionally on his inability to consult with his lawyers privately.
“I feel like I should speak because I am going to appoint another legal team and they are going to withdraw again and I’m going to come back again and say I don’t know what the docket is. I feel like the NPA [National Prosecuting Authority] ought to give me the docket directly because I might have to defend myself.”

Magudumana’s lawyers said this evoked emotions in her as she also claims that she has also been abused at the Kroonstad prison where she is being held.
“What is exacerbating her situation is that she has been sending complaints in writing and I have never seen a single correspondence from Correctional Services just giving her the outcomes of her complaints, whether they dismiss the complaint or whatever the outcome may be.”
