JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) said that it was not willing to change its stance on the National Health Insurance (NHI) as it continues talks with the African National Congress (ANC) over a possible coalition.
There have been suggestions that the ANC is likely to join forces with its political rival after failing to retain its majority in the National Assembly.
This despite the two parties barely agreeing on several policies, including land reform, ownership of state institutions and social relief.
DA spokesperson, Solly Malatsi, said that coalition negotiations would address these hurdles at a later stage.
"We are not even there yet where we are discussing specific policies. I think it is important at this stage that at least we hear each other. Our views on NHI and the BELA Bill are obviously known across the board, so those are some the broader policy elements we'll consider."
