Possible kingmaker IFP enters coalition talks in KwaZulu-Natal
The party has already held three meetings with different parties and is anticipating several more in the coming days.

JOHANNESBURG - The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) - which is shaping up to be the possible kingmaker in the 2024 general elections - has entered coalition talks with KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) as one of its main priorities.
It has already held three meetings with different parties and is anticipating several more in the coming days.
Eyewitness News understands the IFP is deliberating on four possible outcomes including a government of national unity, a grand coalition, a minority government or opting not to participate at all.

While KZN is important for its 2026 local government ambitions, it will also consider if an alignment of policy positions is possible.
The IFP also announced its established a seven-member task team from its national executive for the coalition talks.
"The people of South Africa have spoken loud and clear that there is no one party will dictate the political future of our country, but the political parties in South Africa must find each other, find a common ground and rebuild South Africa," said IFP leader Velenkosini Hlabisa.
