MIDRAND - More political parties have weighed in on coalition talks after the African National Congress (ANC) lost its majority at the 29 May polls after decades in power.

Parties now have to come to grips with coalitions as they configure the seventh administration.

A number of scenarios have been lined up, including a grand coalition between the ANC and Democratic Alliance (DA) and what some have called a doomsay coalition between the ANC and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

After the election results were announced on Sunday night, parties are expected to begin negotiations on Monday already.

Freedom Front Plus leader, Pieter Groenewald, said that no deal had been waged so far.

"Depending on what the proposals are going to be, we will take a decision which is in the best interest of South Africans."

Build One South Africa (BOSA) deputy leader, Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster, said that the party had been approached by other collaborators.

"What we are putting at the centre are South Africans – it's the 61 million South Africans."
