CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Premier Alan Winde said the next two weeks would be crucial as political parties gear up to go into coalition talks to decide the future of the country.

Political parties are set for two weeks of coalition talks after no clear victory was determined in the 2024 national elections.

Winde said that he would be flying to Johannesburg within the next two days for discussions to commence.

"We've got to do a lot of work, and of course, a lot of political parties are going to be doing that work and engaging, and we've all got to say, ‘Well, what is in the best interest of the citizens of this country? What is in the best interest of stability going forward?’”

Winde said there would be a lot of horse-trading in the next two weeks.

"I certainly hope that we can find some workable solution that gives us stability and much more of a centrist kind of focus that says we've got to grow the economy and jobs and create opportunities."

Winde said party values would also be a big factor in reaching coalition agreements.
