Heavy rain lashed parts of Kariega and Gqeberha over the weekend, leaving a trail of devastation.
Many roads have been closed, and emergency services are on high alert to respond to emergencies.
The DA said that urgent action was needed to ensure that funding could be made available to repair the extensive damage.
"A state of disaster must be declared, and we must release resources to assist those people that have been displaced and those that are at risk," said spokesperson, Andrew Whitfield.
"People have died and many more have been injured - we need to take decisive action."
