CAPE TOWN - At least 10 people have died in four separate road crashes caused by torrential rain and flooding in the Eastern Cape since Friday.
An accident on the N6 between Cathcart and Komani claimed two lives in a head-on collision involving a bakkie and a truck.

Eastern Cape Transport Department spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, said that Sunday was the worst day as persistent rains, wet, slippery conditions and poor visibility in some areas wreaked havoc on the roads.
"Transport MEC Xolile Nqatha has commended rapid response teams for a job well done during what has been a very tough week in the Eastern Cape, with torrential rains that have to massive flooding in some areas. [The] MEC has extended his sincere word of condolences to those families who have lost their loved ones."
