CAPE TOWN - The African National Congress (ANC) has condemned threats of violence from parties that have rejected the outcomes of the 2024 national and provincial elections.
More than 20 political parties, including former president Jacob Zuma's uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, have warned the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) not to declare the election results on Sunday.
On Saturday night, Zuma said declaring the results would be a provocation to his party and its supporters.

Speaking during a briefing at the National Results Operation Centre on Sunday, ANC secretary general Fikile Mbalula labelled the threats as an attempt to undermine the integrity of the IEC.
"Our freeness and fairness of the election have been ensured. We call on all South Africans to resist the efforts of those forces who want to weaken our democracy, who want to undermine our electoral processes."
