The party warns of severe consequences against the perpetrators and any individuals found to be distributing the voice note. In terms of the Cybercrimes Act, it is a criminal offence to use social media to fabricate and publish defamatory content.

Mtolo has assured the public he was not behind the voice note making the rounds.

“We have issued a reward of R100,000 to someone who will notice the voice note that claims that it is from me. Such a person will be rewarded. We have reported the matter to the authorities. We are also calling on the police to do a speedy investigation.”
