WC Premier Alan Winde 'grateful, humbled' as DA retains control of province

CAPE TOWN - Voters in the Western Cape have given Premier Alan Winde the mandate to keep serving the province following the DA's victory in the provincial elections.
The party scooped more than half of the votes in the province with the ANC coming in second and the Patriotic Alliance (PA) taking third spot in the province.

Winde says the provincial government remains committed to upholding the dignity of citizens.
"I am immensely grateful. I am humbled and I want to say to the voters of this province thank you very much for the trust that you have put in me and the Democratic Alliance in the province once again."
Winde said it was an honour to lead the province again.
But, he said there was still more work to be done.
"We have got to take the province to further heights... We've got to make sure we narrow that poverty gap."
The Western Cape government's new cabinet is set to be sworn in on 13 June
