JOHANNESBURG - The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party says its next step is to deliver on the faith voters have shown it.

The party, which is led by former president Jacob Zuma and has been the story of these elections, looks set to dethrone the African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal and become the third most supported organisation nationally.

Founded in December, the MK Party had just a little over six months to prepare for the elections.

The organisation has not even held a conference and currently has interim leadership structures.

National leadership member Duduzile Zuma said the party is excited about sending its people to Parliament and provincial legislatures.

“It’s time to deliver what the people have mandated us to do. So, with the numbers they have given us in Parliament, we are going to try and hold whoever is there accountable and push what we want to deliver to our people.”

Zuma said the MK Party is prepared to only go into coalitions with like-minded, black progressive political parties.
