CAPE TOWN - The African National Congress (ANC) in the Western Cape said that the party was not happy with its performance in the provincial elections so far.
The party has now edged just above 19% but its provincial spokesperson, Khalid Sayed, said that this far, the ANC could have done better.
Sayed said that the party would have wanted the count to be well above their 2019 count of 29%.
He said that as a consolation, the party was, however, happy it gained some new voters.
"We did most certainly inside of what were traditional DA strongholds. We looked at Rylands, for example, even Salt River and various other areas."
With just over 80% of the votes in the province captured, Sayed said that there was still some time for the party to improve.
