‘There’s only one godfather’ – MK Party unmoved by Zuma’s ANC membership

JOHANNESBURG - The Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party says there’s no harm in its leader Jacob Zuma double dipping in two political parties.
Although Zuma appeared on the ballot paper for the MK Party at this week’s elections, his membership in the African National Congress (ANC) remains in limbo.
Zuma was suspended by the ANC earlier this year, but the party is yet to finalise talks about his possible expulsion.

The two parties are now also fierce rivals in KwaZulu-Natal, with the MK Party looking to unseat the governing ANC in that province.
MK Party member Duduzile Zuma told journalists at the National Results Operation Centre in Midrand on Thursday that her father’s decision to remain a member of both parties had no impact on the MK Party.
“We trust his judgment; he’s very wise.”
Journalist: “Do you think it’s a good thing though? Do you think that would be let off the hook for everyone else of the MK party – to be a member of the MK party and another political party?”
Duduzile: “There’s only one godfather. We are very happy with that.”
