MK Party continues upward trajectory in KZN as big metro results pour in
The last figures that were provided before the IEC results board glitch showed that the MK Party’s share of the provincial vote in KZN had in fact grown overnight.

DURBAN - Much-anticipated big metros results began rolling in overnight in KwaZulu-Natal.
The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party took an early lead in the province, but rival parties, including the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and the Democratic Alliance (DA) were adamant that once the metros’ results were captured, the picture would change.
In the last hour, a technical glitch has caused the screens that display the latest results at results operation centres across the country to malfunction. They are not yet back up and running in KZN.

We apologise for the issue with our public facing NPE system, and are working on restoring service. The results system is still operational and local offices continue to capture results.
But the last figures that were provided showed that the MK Party’s share of the provincial vote in KZN had in fact grown overnight.
They’ve now got around 45% of the votes on the provincial ballot, up from the 43-odd percent they were sitting with towards the end of Thursday.
Rival parties were counting on their strongholds in the eThekwini metro to give them a boost.
But looking at the map on Friday morning, we can see that MK is gaining ground, with several pink patches starting to emerge.
