JOHANNESBURG - The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) says it’s investigating the cause a technical glitch that lasted for over an hour on the leaderboard on Friday morning.

The election dashboard suffered a technical glitch on Friday morning, which affected its beaming network.

The commission briefed the media at the national results centre on the matter.

For about two hours, those at the results operations centre were moving blind, after the system suddenly crashed, and that was visible on the big screens were IEC logos.

The dashboard online was also non-operational.

We know as little as we knew two hours ago from the IEC, other than that the commission is investigating the matter.

IEC deputy CEO Mawethu Mosery assured voters that the backend was not affected, and that the integrity of results had not been compromised.
