Over 80 percent of votes have been captured in the Free State province, and the ANC continues to lead with just over 53 percent, the DA 21.54 percent and the EFF 13.5 percent.

BLOEMFONTEIN - The IEC in the Free State said that it would complete the capturing of the results by the end of business on Friday.

So far, 666,328 votes have been captured.

This makes up 86.57% of the provincial ballot.

There is less than 15% of the votes left to be captured in the Free State.

The IEC in the province said that all results would have been captured and would appear on the results board.

Free State electoral officer, Jabulani Shabalala, said that the capturing process would be finished by Friday night.

Shabalala said that they were still awaiting results from the province’s metro in Mangaung, among others, with the verification process taking longer.

"They need to verify those results to make sure that they are accurate. They need not to be hesitant to capture results just to tick the box."

With the votes counted so far, the African National Congress (ANC) continues to lead with over 53%, the Democratic Alliance (DA) has over 21%, while the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is nearly at 14%.
