CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) is on track to retain control over the Western Cape.
With over 86% of votes captured now, political parties appear weary.
Traditionally the count in the province is finalised within two days and many are hoping the same will be the case on Friday night.
The African National Congress (ANC) certainly looks very dejected, with not even 20% of the votes captured.
The ANC in the Western Cape is still hoping some voting districts in the Cape Town metro will boost its fortunes. From 28.63% in 2019, it’s currently only at 18.52%. LD pic.twitter.com/x9WcNOE8KP

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) too looks set to lose out as the third biggest party in the province, with less than 5% of the votes captured.
Meanwhile the EFF has been in a scrap with the IEC over votes it says have not been captured correctly. LD pic.twitter.com/k2bKjSxsY4

Only the Patriotic Alliance (PA) appears satisfied so far with its first foray in a provincial election, currently in third position.
Not even a collaboration between the ANC and PA can overtake the DA's current 55% majority in the Western Cape.
